2019 'The Merle' Reserve Riesling - Museum Release

Named after our family matriarch, ‘The Merle’ is selected from the best parcels of Riesling from our Polish Hill River Estate. We are aiming for the purest expression of Polish Hill Riesling for this wine. Our winemaking approach is designed to capture the flavour of each individual site with minimal winemaking influence. The Merle represents the pinnacle of Riesling at Pikes, showing concentration, sense of place and purity.

Intense and generous lime fruit characters with all the energy and length you expect in Merle Riesling, softening to show some texture in the mouthfeel without sacrificing any of it’s famed poise and power. The bottle development has complemented the fresh fruit with a sense of Lime butter on toast whilst still sliding across the palate elegantly.

Lovely lime cordial notes jump out initially, alongside crushed Kaffir Lime leaves and almond blossom scents, supported by some classic Polish Hill River minerality and a spritz of bath salts.
