2020 'The Merle' Reserve Riesling - Museum Release

At five years of age, this release of The Merle is just beginning to reveal the early signs of bottle-aged development. The 2020 vintage was shaped by a warm, dry growing season, followed by 60mm of rain in January and one of the coolest Februaries on record. These conditions led to low yields and exceptional flavour concentration.

Our winemaking philosophy focuses on expressing the character of each individual site with minimal intervention. The Merle represents the pinnacle of Riesling at Pikes, showing concentration, sense of place and purity.

Aromas of brown lime cordial, waxy lime leaf, and the first hints of lemon buttered toast. With time and warmth in the glass, the bouquet becomes increasingly layered and complex.

Textured, balanced, and irresistibly moreish. The brown lime cordial character carries through, complemented by subtle notes of marmalade. A mouth-watering, persistent finish is underpinned by classic Polish Hill River minerality.
