2022 'Eastside' Shiraz

Good winter rain allowed soil profiles to be full, giving the vines a great start to the growing season. A remarkably cool summer followed, providing perfect conditions for healthy balanced vines. The long ripening period produce fruit with a perfect balance of good colour, high natural acidity, and concentrated flavours. This wine is an excellent showcase for the unique expression of Shiraz grown on our Estate. A combination of inoculated and spontaneous fermentation on skins for an average of 14 days in open vats. Gentle cap management to retain elegant tannin and aromatic qualities.

The lift of that generous fruit carries into the glass with brambly mulberry and blueberries present amongst light pepper-y and allspice notes. The tidying acid backbone of our Slate soil profiles combine with that bright fruit giving the wine further elegance and helps it glide across the palate before finishing long, savoury and delicious.

Lifted, fresh red and blue fruits excite the nose with some lovely liquorice and dark baking spices adding complexity.
