2023 'Gill's Farm' Mourvèdre

Good winter rain allowed soil profiles to be full, giving the vines a great start to the growing season. A remarkably cool summer followed, providing perfect conditions for healthy balanced vines. The long ripening period produced fruit with a perfect balance of good colour, high natural acidity, and concentrated flavours. One of the better vintages of the last decade.

Fermented spontaneously in small, closed fermenters using compressed air to gently manage the cap to protect the aromatic qualities of the wine.

Vibrant dark fruit, with plums and black cherries, lifted by crushed violet florals and with some classic cured meat and peppery, baking spices notes.

Soft red and black fruits with dark cherry and currants prominent with a hint of cola sweetness. Touches of anise, dried thyme and cinnamon add a delightful spice framework and complexity around the fruit. The fleshy, yet medium bodied palate flows to a long finish, where bright acidity and powdery, persistent tannins deliver impressive length.
